Swatches Of Kat Von D's Alchemist Palette
Have you heard about Kat Von D's latest and greatest? Its, well, alchemical properties are kind of tough to fathom — you kind of have to see it to believe it. Trust me, swatches of Kat Von D's Alchemist Palette do not disappoint.
It's almost magical — in the pan, the shadows look like your standard (albeit gorgeous) iridescent pastel eyeshadows. But in action, they're so much more than that — you see, the "alchemist" moniker actually refers to their transformative properties: They're specially designed to be layered over other products to bring new life to more standard shades. It's kind of like Lipstick Queen's smokey Black Lace Rabbit lippie — except it also happens to double as a super on point (and on trend) duochrome highlighter.
Each of the four shades is completely unique — (Ultra-Violet) Amethyst is sure to make an arrestingly alien highlighter, (Pink) Opal will make for quite the stunning browbone luminizer, (Green) Emerald can brighten any eye area (no matter how tired and/or puffy), and (Blue) Sapphire will make everything from throwback '90s eyeshadow looks to futuristic blue lips positively sing. Even without the endless layering possibilities, it's a great palette to have around, given the workability of each shade.
That said, the layering genius is real: Von D herself revealed to true potential of the shades via Snapchat, by swatching them over her popular Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Witches. Once you see the holographic shades swatched over pitch black, you might just lose your mind.
Pretty darn stunning, right? It's tough to say whether the Alchemist shades look better on their own or layered — so we'll just have to compromise and say that both are equally epic.
Add all that to the fact that the packaging is basically to die for, and you've got yourself a must-have. The palette retails for $32, and is set to hit shelves this December. Looks like Kat Von D has yet another product headed for cult favorite glory, doesn't it?
