Ashley Graham's Barbie Has A Cool Feature

by Amanda Richards

Ashley Graham is an incredibly influential model in the industry and is quickly becoming a household name. On Nov. 14, Graham received a gift that might put her at icon status: A Barbie doll made in Graham's likeness and in her measurements. The Ashley Graham Barbie was presented to the model and influencer at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards, the New York Daily News reported.

“We need to work together to redefine the global image of beauty and continue to push for a more inclusive world,” Graham, 27, said in a statement after receiving the doll. “I’m thrilled Barbie has not only evolved their product, but also has continued to honor women who are pushing boundaries. It’s an honor to be immortalized in plastic.”

According to Buzzfeed, the creation of the doll was a labor of love. Graham sent her exact measurements, hair color, and eye color to the Mattel team, and they came up with a concept for the doll that met Graham's specifications — and there was one particular aspect of the doll's body type that Graham wouldn't budge on.

“All we did was take 360 degree photos of my body to send to them, and afterward we fleshed out some details. The color of my hair, a few details on my face like beauty marks and full eyebrows," Graham told the Huffington Post. "The number one prerequisite, though, was that her thighs touched. I was like, ‘Guys, we can make this Barbie, but if her thighs don’t touch, she’s not authentic.'"

As of right now, the doll is a one-off created specifically for Graham and isn't available for purchase. While fans wait with baited breath, they can shop the inclusive range of Barbies from their Tall, Curvy, and Petite collections.
