Why Kendall Jenner Left Instagram

On Monday, fans of the Kardashian/Jenner family started to panic when they realized that Kendall Jenner's Instagram had disappeared. No no need to freak out anymore, though, because Kendall Jenner will return to Instagram at some point in time, she told Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Wednesday. "I'll be back," she said. "I’ll come back." Now don't expect her triumphant return anytime soon, because it's only been two days, but she isn't swearing off the social media tool for good. Whew! That was a close one, wasn't it?

So why the heck did Jenner quit Instagram in the first place? The answer she gave DeGeneres actually makes a lot of sense and is something I think we've all felt at one point or another. "I just wanted to detox," the 21-year-old explained. "I felt like I just wanted a little bit of a break. I’m always on it ... I would wake up in the morning and I would look at it first thing, I would go to bed and it was the last thing I would look at. I felt a little too dependent on it, so I kinda wanted to take a minute to detox."

I feel you, Jenner. Sometimes the internet, especially social media, becomes too much and you find yourself needing a well-deserved break. Between trying to keep up to date on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, social media can be consuming. As a celebrity, I'm sure it can even be overwhelming. Yeah, I don't blame the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star one bit for quitting Instagram.

As for the stir it caused, the model didn't expect to garner such a strong reaction. "It's so crazy to me that it even became huge news like that," Jenner said. "Like, I have no idea how that [happened]. I mean, like, I guess I didn’t expect it. I also took my Twitter off my phone. Like, I didn’t delete my Twitter entirely, but I took the app off my phone, so I had no idea anyone was even talking about it. I honestly didn’t even think anyone would care."

She even said her family and friends reached out to her to make sure everything was OK. Jenner said, "My friends kept texting me and my family members, and I was like, 'How does everyone know?' And they started sending me links to, like, CNN and all these things and I was like, 'Why is this even this big of a deal?' It’s so crazy."

Jenner said she isn't sure how long her break will last, but she is enjoying it at the moment. She also loves how it forces her to engage in real conversations with people, rather than through a device. "It's really nice," she said. "I suggest it."

Maybe we all need to follow in Jenner's footsteps?
