Bustle's Editors On Kanye & Face Masks

by Rachel Simon

Only two days to go until Thanksgiving, people — which means that if you haven't started gathering your cooking items and prepping for the stress that'll inevitably come when distant relatives pile into a room together, get on it, ASAP. The big day will be here before you know it, and after that, it'll be December, and then Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year's... basically, 2016 is coming to an end faster than any of us are prepared for. Eek.

But before we get too ahead of ourselves, let's take it one day at a time. Here's a round-up of all the things that Bustle's editors were talking about today.

Breakups + Moving On

In the latest episode of Bustle's Love, Factually, we tackle the science behind breakups — specifically, if it's possible to make yourself get over a split faster than average. As it turns out, the kind of mindset you have about life in general can have a big impact on how you respond to breakups, as does how you respond to rejection. Pretty interesting, right?

From The Editor: "As someone who definitely has a ‘fixed mindset’ and believes that people don’t change, it was hard to hear that that mentality makes it harder to get over a breakup," reveals Alexi McCammond, Bustle's Associate News Editor and host of Love, Factually. "But once I learned that getting over a breakup faster depends on creating new memories without your ex, I felt like that’s an easy, actionable way for anyone to move forward!"

Kanye West + Some Much-Needed Rest

It's been quite a week for Kanye West, who spent the last several days sharing his thoughts on the election, ranting about Beyonce and Jay Z, Instagramming dozens of strange photos, and cancelling the rest of his Saint Pablo tour. And now, it's been revealed that West has been hospitalized for exhaustion, his reps have confirmed. Here's hoping that Yeezus has a speedy recovery.

Carpool Karaoke, Grammy Edition? After five straight years of LL Cool J hosting the Grammys, the awards show has found a new leader in James Corden, The Late Late Show host and Carpool Karaoke extraordinaire. If you only know Corden as the talk show star and don't quite see him as a Grammy host, though, here's why he's actually a great man for the job.

Donald Trump + New Allegations

Another day, another disturbing allegation about President-Elect Donald Trump. On Tuesday, The Washington Post's Richard Cohen claimed that Trump said he was attracted to Ivanka, his then-13-year-old daughter. The Trump campaign has not responded to requests for comment, but if the statement really did occur, it's incredibly upsetting.

Face Masks + Tomatoes

If you're into skin care, chances are that you've tried your fair share of face masks over the years. Yet it's doubtful that, like Bustle's Fashion & Beauty Editor Olivia Muenter, you've tried 23 of the weirdest ones you could find in the hopes of making your face as soft as possible. From "tomato sheet" to "purple masquarade," check out all the crazy face masks Muenter tried — but be warned that if you're planning on copying her plan, you might want to stay away from the kelp. Ick.

Shopping Break: If you're the kind of person who refuses to use any shampoo but your long time fave, you're not alone. But it's good to change things up every once in awhile when it comes to your regime, and these dermatologist-recommended shower products are definitely worth checking out.

Beauty & The Beast + '90s Nostalgia

It might be hard to believe, but as of Tuesday, Beauty and the Beast is officially 25 years old. The beloved Disney movie — which has a live-action remake coming out next year — is one of the studio's all-time best, but that doesn't mean that it also didn't have plenty of plot holes. Celebrate the movie's anniversary by looking back at all the many questions Beauty and the Beast prompts, intentional or not. Seriously, how does Chip exist?!

So You Want To Be A Gilmore: If you're feeling out of the loop when it comes to all things Gilmore Girls and want to be ready for Friday's revival, this handy flowchart will fill you in on everything you need to know about the show. Coffee breaks highly recommended.

Today's WTF Moment: "Men who see themselves as playboys or as having power over women are more likely to have psychological problems than men who conform less to traditionally masculine norms" — The American Psychological Association, sharing a new study's findings that being sexist can be harmful to men's health. I mean...
