Patagonia Is Giving Back On Black Friday

by Kali Borovic

If you were planning to skip the Black Friday sales, you might want to think again. There's one deal this year that isn't just good for you, it's good for everyone out there. According to their Instagram, Patagonia is giving 100 percent of their Black Friday sales to charity. I'm talking every single penny of both the in-store and online money made. If that's not a reason to shop, then I don't know what is.

There's only one thing better than saving money on Black Friday — your money going towards a good cause. According to their site, Patagonia is giving away everything they make on the shopping holiday to 800 different grassroots organizations. The company is focused on giving back to the small organizations that help the planet, which they say are often underfunded.

"During a difficult and divisive time, we felt it was important to go further and connect more of our customers, who love wild places, with those who are fighting tirelessly to protect them," the letter from Patagonia CEO Rose Marcario reads. "This we know: If we don’t act boldly, severe changes in climate, water and air pollution, extinction of species and erosion of topsoil are certain outcomes."

This isn't their first time giving back either. According to their site, Patagonia has been donation one percent of net annual sales to the preservation and restoration of the natural environment since 1985. That makes a total donation of over $74 million in 31 years, according to the brand.

They've taken a stance environmentally as a brand as well. They constantly encourage their customers to think about issues like the Atlantic Coast Pipeline and GMO Pesticide Testing on their Instagram. It's clear to see that they care about the Earth, so this is one brand that you don't have to worry about buying from.

I don't know about you, but my holiday shopping list just got a little longer!
