These Google "Quick, Draw!" Pictures Are Hilarious

by Megan Grant

I must be living under a rock, because I'm just now catching up on the new internet craze: Google's "Quick, Draw!" Of course, as cool as it is, the countless funny Google "Quick, Draw!" pictures showing up online are proof that we can't all be natural artists. In a nutshell, you get a short period of time to draw whatever the game tells you to, all while the algorithm attempts to guess what it is. And let me tell you: It's challenging. Unless you're Vincent van Gogh, all of your drawings will probably look like a potato. Like mine did.

But let me back up a little. Created by web developer Jonas Jonjegan and machine learning researcher Henry Rowley (in addition to the Google Creative Lab and Data Arts Team), "Quick, Draw!" is basically a more sophisticated version of Pictionary. It assigns you something to draw — six images total — and gives you 20 seconds to complete each. In that time, the program will call out guesses of what it thinks you're trying to draw. While it is a chance for you to refine your drawing skillz, the ultimate goal is to improve the neural network of this Artificial Intelligence experiment. It launched in mid-November, and I don't know about you, but I'm hooked.

Learning how to play Google's "Quick, Draw!" is easy. Becoming a master artist, however, takes time — and luckily, countless people on the internet are willing to share with us some of the funnier attempts they've made. These 10? They're my favorites. You all get an A for effort.
