'Gilmore Girls' "Unbreakable" Is Too Catchy

by Jordana Lipsitz

It should come as no surprise to fans of Gilmore Girls that, in the new Netflix revival, Taylor Doose gets the idea that a musical history of the town is just what Stars Hollow needs. But what is a little surprising is that one of the songs that Taylor drafts for the musical, "Unbreakable," does a fantastic job of touching Lorelei's heartstrings (and ours). If you're trying to figure out how to listen to "Unbreakable" from Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life , you're not alone — the song, sung by Sutton Foster, is incredibly catchy, and a perfect addition to the Gilmore world.

Right now, the song is unfortunately unavailable on Amazon, Spotify, and iTunes, and there has been no announcements from Netflix about whether or not there will be a Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life soundtrack to go alongside the emotionally draining yet still uplifting four-part series. It's not looking good, as the original show only had one soundtrack album in 2002, Our Little Corner of the World: Music from Gilmore Girls. Perhaps a revival soundtrack will happen eventually, but for now, fans' best bet for re-listening to "Unbreakable" is to just watch the revival again and again — like you weren't already planning on doing that anyhow.

"Summer," the episode featuring the musical, is a big deal for the revival, as in it, Lorelai is having a slight existential crisis. When she, as a member of the Stars Hollow Musical advisory committee, heads to Ms. Patty's to listen to a new song Taylor has added to the musical, Lorelai isn't expecting much — who would be, after hearing "A Love Revolution?" Instead, "Unbreakable" makes her all teary and is the catalyst for her Wild epiphany. There are a lot of emotions and feels involved, including a moving scene of Lorelai crying.

Unless the cries of Gilmore addicts are heard over the milieu and we get ourselves a Year In The Life soundtrack (please oh please oh please), we'll just have to keep re-watching Hey, we waited nine years for a revival. We can totally wait this out.
