Donate To These 4 Organizations On Giving Tuesday

If you've just spent more than you should on things you don't really need during Black Friday and Cyber Monday (I know I have), then Giving Tuesday may be the perfect opportunity to allocate those resources to something beyond another DVD box set. And really, given how insane this post-election month has been, dedicating your funds on this Giving Tuesday can truly make an impact. So why not give to organizations fighting to get women elected? In the wake of Hillary Clinton's presidential election loss, now is the perfect time to donate to such causes.

Thankfully, there are a number of organizations that are willing to take up the fight Clinton spoke of in her first appearance after the election, when she told the American public "I urge you, please, don’t lose heart. Don’t give up on the values we share... I ask you to stay engaged, stay engaged on every level."

Giving Tuesday is a great way to help out with that engagement. These four organizations work to get women into office, and by making a donation to them on this global day of giving, you're doing your part in securing a future that is brighter for women around the world.

1. Emily's List

Emily's List is an organization that is devoted to getting pro-choice Democratic women into office. And what could be better than that, especially given what women face during a Trump presidency? Emily's List has a number of donation options, including a one-time donation and monthly withdrawal.

2. Emerge America

Emerge America offers a unique solution to the low number of female elected officials: it offers a seven-month, 70-hour training program for aspiring female Democratic politicians. The organization boasts that this program helps women learn their region's particular political landscape, and out of those Emerge America alumnae that have run for office, there is an impressive 70 percent success rate. 3. She Should Run

She Should Run is a non-partisan organization that works to encourage women to run for public office. The organization has several programs, including their Ask A Woman To Run initiative, which has resulted in more than 100,000 women running for public office. And instead of recruiting specific women for specific positions, like Emily's List, this one works a little more broadly — their goal is to "expand the community of women considering public service as a leadership path."

4. National Organization for Women

The National Organization for Women is a far-reaching group that focuses their efforts on a variety of goals, including abortion access, LGBTQ rights, and racial justice. NOW also has a PAC component that successfully pooled money for more than 100 female federal candidates this year alone.

Giving to organizations like these couldn't be more important right now. Even just a few dollars could make a massive difference if it means helping women get elected to office.
