Trevor Noah Proves Why He Replaced Jon Stewart

Trevor Noah hasn't always had the easiest time on The Daily Show. As Jon Stewart's replacement, the anchor found himself with an extremely tough act to follow, but Trevor Noah's interview with Tomi Lahren seems to have finally cemented his place as The Daily Show's successor. Any face-to-face sit down between the pair was going to be epic, especially as it appears that Lahren isn't used to having her views scrutinized quite so intently. But Noah proved why he was chosen as Stewart's replacement, and the interview went viral as a result.

Back in September, in a clip titled, "Tomi Lahren's Anger Lights Facebook On Fire," Noah described The Blaze host as "the least woke, most awake person I have ever seen," in response to her outspoken views on the Black Lives Matter movement and Donald Trump, to name but a few. Clearly, Noah was keen to discuss the often outrageous and racist views that she purports to have. And as interviews go, Noah's recent chat with Lahren feels every bit as important as the infamous Jon Stewart vs. Bill O'Reilly discussion from 2012.

Stewart's interview with O'Reilly, which took place on O'Reilly's show, saw the former host of The Daily Show call out the inconsistencies and hypocrisies contained within the host's narratives and reporting. Using deft humor, and a plethora of facts, Stewart tore apart O'Reilly's arguments regarding who was worthy of being invited to the White House. Noah's interview with Lahren was in a similar vein, with the host being just as deft and witty as Stewart, while ensuring Lahren's politics were fully explored and any inconsistencies therein exploited.

After his takedown of Lahren's seemingly ignorant ideas (such as comparing the Black Lives Matter movement to the KKK), it's unlikely that fans will continue to doubt Noah's abilities as the host of The Daily Show. While managing to deliver several spontaneous and super smart quips throughout the interview, Noah cut straight to the heart of Lahren's flawed arguments, exposing her views as contradictory, misinformed, and influenced by her own position of privilege.

After this, it certainly feels as though Noah is here is to stay.
