'Pretty Little Liars': Catch Up With the Characters Before the Season 4 Premiere

We witnessed plenty of drama during Season 3 of 'Pretty Little Liars.' Not only were our hearts ripped out when we found out one of our favorite characters was working with the 'A-Team' (and we don't mean the one with Mr. T), but we also learned that there might be more than one villain out to harm our liars. But who might be the culprit? With the Season 4 premiere just days away, It's time to catch up with all of our liars and their Rosewood enemies. So, what have they all been up to?

Where Have Our Rosewood Residents Been?

We witnessed plenty of drama during Season 3 of 'Pretty Little Liars.' Not only were our hearts ripped out when we found out one of our favorite characters was working with the 'A-Team' (and we don't mean the one with Mr. T), but we also learned that there might be more than one villain out to harm our liars. But who might be the culprit? With the Season 4 premiere just days away, It's time to catch up with all of our liars and their Rosewood enemies. So, what have they all been up to?

Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario)

Let's face it: Spencer was a mess this season. We can't blame her — she found out that her boyfriend Toby was working with Mona, the girl who tortured her friends as 'A' for an entire year. But that was nothing compared to finding Toby's "dead body" in the woods... only to discover it was a set-up to convince Mona to join the A-Team. Luckily for the liars, Spencer is far too smart to fall for it. Instead, she posed as a member and infiltrated the A-Team in order to get intel on "Red Coat," Mona's mysterious leader. Last we saw of Spencer, she and the liars had discovered Darren Wilden's sunken police car had been resurfaced from the lake — with something very interesting in the trunk.

Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson)

Hanna thought she was protecting her mother by stealing Detective Darren Wilden's police car and sinking it in the lake. But the plan backfired — the new A found the car and used the car's camera footage of Hanna's mother hitting Detective Wilden with her car as blackmail. And we thought Hanna was the worst driver in the Marin family.

Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell)

Another season, another way for Emily to almost die. This time, Emily — who spent the year trying to prove Toby's innocence — almost plummeted to her demise after A set her and Jason DiLaurentis up. Fortunately, Emily has the lifespan of a cat and only had to use up one of her nine lives for this little incident.

Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale)

When Aria learned her dad had been being blackmailed by Ali, she was afraid that he might, in fact, have killed Ali. Thankfully, Aria learned that Papa Montgomery isn't a murderer (just a home-wrecking adulterer, no big) and was able to go back to focusing on her nauseating relationship with her former teacher Ezra. When A began messing around with Ezra and his son, Aria decided to call the relationship quits in order keep them both safe.

Toby Cavanaugh (Keegan Allen)

Toby was MIA for most of the last half of the season after it was revealed that he was working with Mona. But things might not be as they seem — he told Spencer that he joined the A-Team to protect her from harm (and then they totally did it in a motel to a Lana Del Rey song). Last we saw of Toby, he was knocked unconscious by a mysterious person (maybe Red Coat?) and being framed for the fire that nearly killed the liars.

Mona Vanderwall (Janel Parrish)

Still the baddest bitch on the A-Team (well, until Spencer briefly joined), Mona had been messing with the liars all season thanks to Toby's help. In the finale, we learned that Mona never knew who Red Coat — her leader, and the one who she claimed took the A-Team to a more dangerous level — actually was. Now it seems Mona is a target of the new A's games as well — she received the same text as the liars did in the finale. But is Mona really another victim or is this an A-Team trick?

Jason DiLaurentis (Drew Van Acker)

There is a good chance that Jason is, sadly, dead. As the only living member of the N.A.T. Club (which, honestly, we no longer remember the significance of), Jason went into hiding following the whole "elevator incident" in order to make sure he wasn't murdered. But the fact that he's totally M.I.A. — and that the body in the woods wasn't Toby's — is making us wonder if a body with super great abs will turn up anytime soon. (Like, say, in Wilden's trunk?!)

Jenna Marshall (Tammin Sursok)

Poor Jenna. First, she was a normal, not-blind girl. Then the liars kind of blinded her (total accident). She got her sight back this season after an experimental operation, only to be told that that the operation would reverse in the near future. That seems like enough reason to plan the official takedown of the liars. We last found Jenna talking in secret with Melissa and Shauna about a plan for the destruction of "those bitches" — and it seems like a good chance that she could be talking about the liars.

Ashley Marin (Laura Leighton)

Our favorite wino mother hit Darren Wilden with her car after he threatened Hanna. Points for being a good mom, but come on, lady — haven't you been near jail enough times to start trying to play it safe?

CeCe Drake (Vanessa Ray)

After dropping the bomb that Alison may have been pregnant when she died (with Darren Wilden's baby!), CeCe skipped town to escape Darren's wrath. But according to Wren, CeCe had some issues with Ali of her own — apparently, Ali got CeCe kicked out of school for an incident at a frat party. Could CeCe's body be the one in the trunk?

Shana (Aeriel Miranda)

We know very little about Shana (she first showed up in the 'Pretty Dirty Secrets' web series as a costume store clerk and briefly dated Paige, Emily's current girlfriend), but we do know that she goes to a different school and has a connection with Jenna and Melissa. She was also in cahoots to bring those unnamed "bitches" down — but what's the connection to the liars?

Caleb Rivers (Tyler Blackburn)

Alongside Paige, Caleb had plans to track down new A in order to protect the girls from harm. Recently, Hanna reconnected Caleb with his biological dad... only to have A frame him for stealing money from a church and drive him out of town. Caleb is off searching for his dad now, but he is making an even larger leap in next season's Halloween episode: He'll be leaving 'Pretty Little Liars' and heading for the spin-off 'Ravenswood.'

Melissa Hastings (Torrey DeVitto)

Friend or foe? We never know with Spencer's older sister. We know she briefly dated Garrett Reynolds, who ended up being murdered on the Halloween train, and that she has made up some crazy lies before — like the one where she pretended to be pregnant for months after she actually miscarried. Does she really have it out for her sister and her friends?

Wren Kingston (Julian Morris)

Adorable, but SO shady. Wren let CeCe Drake in to see Mona when she was a patient at Radley. We didn't see too much of Wren after Spencer left Radley, but we do have the feeling that he knows more about everything than he lets on. Is he really the "good doctor,' or does he have a secret motivation for his actions? Plus, going after Hanna post-breakup with Caleb? So not okay.

Paige McCullers (Lindsey Shaw)

Emily's current girlfriend has been dealing with serious anxiety since Maya's killer kidnapped her and Emily at the lighthouse. She teamed up with Caleb to take down the new A. We recently found out about her past with Shana.

Ezra Fitz (Ian Harding)

Recently, Aria discovered that Ezra had a secret kid — one so secret that even Ezra didn't know about. Now that he's a new father, things have changed between him and Aria, leading them to finally end their (gross) relationship. Ezra is now teaching at Rosewood High again — the last we saw of him, he was substituting for Aria's class.

Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse)

Normally, Ali wouldn't make this list — she's dead, remember? Or IS she? The finale left it ambiguos, to say the least. While Hanna and Mona both claimed to have seen Ali pulling them from the fire, there is also a possibility that the person was simply wearing an Ali mask. Mona claimed that Red Coat always wore one and that she looked just like Ali. So is Alison dead? And if not, is she Red Coat?

'A'

While Mona was the original A, it seems that Season 4 is introducing us to an entirely new A-Team. Last we've heard of 'A' was in a text message to the liars — and Mona! "You're mine now. Kisses. - A". And so it starts again.
