The 'Stranger Things' Cast Reacts To SAG Noms

by S. Atkinson

That show that you marathoned way faster than anything else this year, Stranger Things, received a whole bunch of SAG Awards nominations on Wednesday — which isn't all that surprising. So, no wonder the Stranger Things cast reactions to the SAG noms are so euphoric. The three nominations were for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for both Millie Bobby Brown and Winona Ryder. And this news comes just days after the show received two Golden Globe nominations (one for Best Drama Series and one for Ryder for Best Actress, Drama).

And these aren't the only nominations the much-lauded show has celebrated this year — the show also was nominated for the coveted Best Drama Series category at the Critics' Choice Awards. The cast must feel like they're on top of the world right now. Many of your favorite characters (OK, their thespian counterparts) have weighed in on the good news and their excitement is contagious — it almost makes you wonder: Did fans love Stranger Things because of its mix of '80s nostalgia, Ryder, and the best kid actors this side of Home Alone? Or because the cast is so darn nice? Well, probably the former — but the extra sweetness demonstrated by the actors definitely doesn't harm their case.

Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven)

It's hard to believe Brown hasn't even hit her teenage years yet. This tweet is a concise lesson in how to accept the entertainment industry's compliments with supreme humility. If you click on the full tweet (which links to an article in which Claire Foy, Thandie Newton, Robin Wright, and Ryder are named as nominees alongside her), this suggests Brown is being extra gracious by complimenting the competition.

Gaven Matarazzo (Dustin)

Again, it's a crash course in complete charm and humility. Matarazzo gives credit to the women of the cast before getting excited about the nomination that applies to him.

Cara Buono (Karen)

Buono's sweet shoutout to the Duffer Brothers, the creators of the show, reminds us all who first brought the magic of the show to life.

Matthew Modine (Dr. Martin Brenner)

I couldn't have said it better myself — Modine celebrates the joy of what makes Stranger Things so special. A big cast that's always looking out for each other. And by posting this alongside what we could assume, given Modine's previous post, is a piece of fan art, Modine shares the focus with the people who made the show such a success: you.

If the cast's winning speeches are half as eloquent as their social media suggests, come the SAG Awards on Jan. 29, fans will be in for a treat. Can't wait.
