Nike's Plus Size Collection Is Doubling For Spring
Finding plus size clothes is way harder than it should be, but one of the world's largest athletic brands is trying to make shopping for plus size workout gear a little easier. Nike's plus size offering is supposed to double by spring 2017 to close to 200 options, but in the mean time, they're adding 85 new pieces to the collection, just in time for the holidays.
The move is part of a bigger shift from Nike (and one that should be adopted by the whole world) to stop labeling women.
“Nike recognizes that women are stronger, bolder, and more outspoken than ever. In today’s world, sport is no longer something that she does, it’s who she isThe days where we have to add ‘female’ before ‘athlete’ are over. She is an athlete, period," Nike said in a statement to Refinery29 . "And having helped fuel this cultural shift, we celebrate these athletes’ diversity, from ethnicity to body shape.” Can I get an amen?
Nike has offered plus size clothing for quite some time now, but their decision to offer a large selection of items ranging from 1X to 3X items really couldn't have come at a better time, as the world is finally coming around to the idea that women come in all shapes and sizes, so it's better to be on the right side of history.
