The Song In The 'Snatched' Trailer Is Appropriate

Bless the sweet pop culture gods in the sky who knew that, even though your new favorite movie doesn't come out until May 2017, we needed a trailer for it before the end of 2016. It's just been that kind of year. So, now that we've been blessed with this gift, what is the song in the Snatched trailer? This trailer is one of the only bright lights in this wretched year, and it's important that we leave no detail unexamined. The same song plays throughout the two-and-a-half minute trailer, and it's called "Put Your Hands Up (Bad Girl)."

But don't be surprised if you haven't heard it on the radio. This track was released all the way back in 2013, on Phototronique's album Superpop (Wylin Out). Now, it's been plucked from four years in the past to be the perfect match for Snatched.

The movie stars Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer as mother and daughter, a pair I didn't even know I needed together until I got them, and is written by Katie Dippold, the same genius behind The Heat and the Ghostbusters reboot. After Schumer's boyfriend bails on a trip, she drags Hawn with her to South America. The two get kidnapped of course, and capers ensue. But, before that, we see Hawn doing a spit take of what she thinks is whale semen, the pair going out to a club together, pounding shots, and Schumer washing her vagina in the bathroom sink. As you do.

All of it is backed by "Put Your Hands Up," which might as well have been written for this trailer, with lyrics like, "In the club / all my bad b*tches / gotta gun to my tum gonna blast with yas" and "flashing lights in my rear view / I know I'm crazy but it's all for you / I'm a bad girl."

I can almost see Schumer performing this song during one of her standup sets, because it's a song that fully embraces being wild and living life unapologetically. This movie seems to be about a vacation gone out of control and the ways that these two women have to go nuts in order to get each other through it. I can't imagine a better choice for the trailer than a song that's warning the listener about how crazy the singer is.

I don't know about you, but it makes me so excited for Mother Day's 2017 when Snatched comes out. Watch the trailer above, and just try not to jam out to "Put Your Hands Up."
