Khloé & Lamar Odom's Divorce Is Official

by S. Atkinson

The world's most seemingly on-and-off pairing, Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom are officially divorced, according to E! News. This was a long time coming — Kardashian first filed for divorce back in 2013 before withdrawing her petition last year after Odom was found unconscious after an alleged overdose. However, she filed again for divorce on May 26 of this year. After seven years of marriage, court documents finalizing the divorce were filed on Dec. 9, and on Saturday, Dec. 17, the divorce became official, E! reported. Bustle has reached out to Kardashian's rep for comment, but did not receive a response at the time of publication. So, what does the Kardashian-Odom divorce mean for their futures, in a purely practical sense?

It all sounds remarkably amicable. According to CNN, who gained access to the divorce documents, their joint production company Khlomar will reportedly be dissolved, while TMZ reported that their joint checking account with be split "right down the middle." CNN also reported that the prenup the pair signed in 2009 will be honored, which means (at least according to Radar Online's version of events) that Odom has reportedly waived any claims to his former wife’s fortune and means that Kardashian will keep her engagement ring (valued at $1 million). A source "with knowledge of the prenup" had previously told Radar Online, “Khloe will be entitled to $500,000 for each year married to Lamar and she could petition for spousal support. However, she would only be entitled to spousal support from Lamar for half the length of their marriage."

However, despite allegedly having the right to petition for spousal support, Kardashian has reportedly waived spousal support, as has Odom. The same source claimed to Radar, “Khloe will remain as the beneficiary on a $10 million life insurance policy Lamar has and that will remain for the rest of their lives.”

According to CNN, Kardashian also dropped Odom's last name from her legal name, so as of Saturday, she's officially Khloé Kardashian again, as opposed to Khloé Kardashian Odom. As a recap, the pair married on Sept. 27, 2009, one month after meeting. According to the court documents obtained by CNN, Kardashian cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for her divorce.

Now that things are finally settled in a legal sense, they can each continue moving forward in their lives.
