Asiana Crash Victim Killed By 911 Vehicle

Autopsy reports released Friday confirm that for one victim of Asiana Airlines Flight 214, the cause of death was not the plane crash itself, but actually being crushed by an emergency vehicle sent to her aid.

Before the coroner examined 16-year-old Ye Meng Yuan's body, it was assumed the crash-landing of the Boeing plane on July 6 had been what killed all three victims.

But last week, it was confirmed by police and fire officials that Yuan was struck by a firetruck racing to reach the blazing plane. Yuan's middle-school classmate, Wang Lin Jia, was ejected from the plane during the botched landing and died, but it appears as though Yuan exited the plane in differently. "I don't know how she got off the plane,"coroner Robert Foucrault said. "I don't think the NTSB [National Transportation Safety Board] knows. I talked to them today."

The third victim, Liu Yi Peng, was found in her passenger seat on the plane, and died in hospital six days later. The investigation of the crash is still pending: there has been no indication of mechanical failure, and Asiana Airlines hotly defended allegations that at least one of the pilots was inexperienced.

All we know so far is that the plane seems to have been coming towards the airport far too slowly and far too low, and smacked its landing gear and tail on a rocky seawall.
