Detroit Declares Itself Bankrupt: A Twitter Round-Up

The ailing Motor City has officially thrown its hands in the air and declared itself bankrupt. Though a citywide funding plan was unveiled just last month, Detroit's last-ditch attempt to rescue itself fell through, and it's now turning itself over to the Feds to be rescued.

So, what happened? The city's unemployment rate has tripled in just over a decade, tens of thousands of buildings sit completely abandoned, homicides are at a historic high, and its services are imploding. Twitter, of course, had its say on the crisis:
