Workout Wear That Will Make You Sweat Better

Fitness fashion is having a moment: lululemon has their studio-to-street line, Under Armour is designing workout gear based on selfies, and the runways are full of sports-inspired attire. Besides the fact that you can look better than ever when breaking a sweat, there's also fancy new gear — like compression leggings, wicking fabrics, and lightweight shoes — that can actually make your gym time even more productive. We tapped Kirta Carroll, the Vice President of Brand Marketing of SIX:02, to pull some of her favorite pieces for spring, and explain exactly how they'll help amp up your workout.

adidas Climacool Supernova Racer Bra

Awesome designs (and sexy cutouts!) aside, the Supernova bra offers maximum support for any workout. “The v-neck stitching provides a more flattering fit than the basic sports bra,” explains Carroll. “The additional lining also means more coverage throughout the workout.” No nips!

Asics Oil Spill Line

Asics gear is designed to make you feel comfortable and perform better. “Their capris have a wider waistband that flatters a woman’s shape,” says Carroll, “and the split short silhouette allows for more movement during your run.”

Available in May.

adidas Techfit 3 Boy Short

If you have the confidence to pull off boy shorts, add these to your wish list. “Adidas Techfit apparel really has a second skin feel,” says Carroll. “The shorts have a compression fit, which warms and supports the muscles, and feature the extra wicking ClimaLite fabric, which pulls moisture off the skin so you feel less sweaty.”

Available in August.

Nike Free 5.0

“The Nike Free 5.0 is a great lightweight sneaker — it’s made for tempo runs, short and fast,” explains Carroll. “The flexible sole works with your foot and mimics barefoot running.” The only thing making you drag your feet will be the summer heat.

Under Armour Heat Gear Still Gotta Have It Bra

“Under Armour’s Heat Gear Sonic fabric really works — it will cool you down and keep you dry through the hot summer months,” says Carroll, “especially while performing high intensity routines.”

Asics Gel Noosa Tri 9

“This shoe was actually created to be a triathalon sneaker,” says Carroll. “The speed laces and ventilated insole help with the quick transition through various terrain and activities.” Plus, the open mesh helps keep feet dry if you’re going a long distance. Even if you’re that hardcore, this is the shoe you want for outdoor running, biking or hiking.

Nike Pro Capri

“The Nike Capri was made to be more substantial these season, with thicker compression fabric,” which helps ease muscle fatigue, says Carroll. But the material is flexible enough that it will move with your body through any workout — and it has Dri-Fit technology to help you stay sweat-free.

Nike LunarGlide 6

“The LunarGlide 6 is a lightweight running sneaker with extra stability,” says Carroll. “Most stability shoes are heavier, so this is a great option.”
