Why We Agree With Kylie's Plastic Surgery Comments

Stop the presses, we're about to agree with a Kardashian on the topic of plastic surgery. 16 year old Kylie Jenner took to Twitter today to clear up some of those pesky rumors that she's had lip injections and work done to her nose. "These plastic surgery rumors hurt my feelings to be honest and are kinda insulting," she tweeted.

Jenner is not the first celebrity to have this kind of speculation about her looks, and she probably won't be the last. Naya Rivera was recently the subject of similar talk when she posted a photo of herself in a bikini. Cries of "breast implants" rained down upon her. There seems to be some sort of unfortunate curiosity from people who are fascinated with whether or not celebs have had work done. Perhaps it's a desire to "prove" that no one just naturally looks that good, they must have been enhanced somehow. (And they often are, but through good lighting and photoshop. Not every attractive celeb has been surgically altered.)

The questions about Jenner's changing appearance reached an all-time high earlier this week when she posted a picture on Instagram featuring her large pouty lips, which many claim have not always been so plump.

Hellooo it's called make up. There's every product in the world to boost lips without surgery these days. And before that, stars were mimicking full lips with clever liner usage. Lucille Ball did it way back in the 50s.

Jenner attributes her changing look to another sneaky teenage culprit. Puberty.

I take this endorsement of the tweet to mean she agrees with this premise that women's bodies, like, change as they grow up. Shocking, I know.

Many people are quick to jump to conclusions about Jenner because she's a Kardashian and to most, they're synonymous with plastic surgery. But not every Kardashian goes under the knife. Khloe Kardashian didn't get a nose job even after her mother told her to. "I’m so happy that I never have," she said of her decision.

But whether Kardashian, Jenner, Rivera, or any celebrity has plastic surgery or not, it's not really any of our business unless they want to talk about it (like Kaley Cuoco). It's their body and their money. Let's leave women's appearances alone, even when those women are famous. Just because they're in the spotlight doesn't give anyone the right to pick them apart.
