These Ladies Love the Little Blue Box

by Mary Avant

Fashion is a fickle thing. With a new must-wear trend, hot color, fresh designer, and It girl of the moment on a nearly daily basis, it’s an industry and lifestyle that tends to vary from moment to moment. But amidst all of this chaos, some iconic brands have managed to stand the test of time — even entire decades. And having been around for nearly 200 years, luxury brand Tiffany & Co. has garnered love and admiration from luxe-loving women and red-carpet stars like Kate Winslet, Amy Adams, and more.

On Thursday night, a few of Hollywood’s most fashionable stars — including Jessica Biel, Katie Holmes, and Kate Bosworth, among others — showed their everlasting love for the famous New York brand, arriving at NYC’s Guggenheim Museum to celebrate Tiffany & Co.’s 2014 Blue Book and take in the latest designs the company has to offer.

Making her first red-carpet appearance since presenting at the Oscars early in March, Biel was the definite star of the show, choosing a plunging Oscar de la Renta gown whose glamour and elegance were only rivaled by the Tiffany jewels themselves. Styling the expertly draped, silk-velvet gown with a stunning Tiffany & Co. diamond drop necklace, pointy black pumps, a black-and-gold clutch, casually swept-back hair, and a soft pink lip, the actress pulled out all the stops for the glitzy event.

Former fashion designer Holmes made a rare red-carpet appearance at the event. Like Biel, she chose a simple black ensemble like Biel’s for the special occasion. But that’s where the similarities end. With its boxy fit, layered hem, and minimalist design, the Balenciaga creation may have been a little too casual for the evening. Still, Holmes managed to pull it off in style.

Bosworth, on the other hand, had no problem delivering the glamour, donning a stunning satin gown from Katie Ermilio in a baby-pink hue that looked divine against her porcelain skin and shocking-pink lipstick. But the best part of the look wasn’t the beautiful cut of the dress or the fabulously delicate diamond necklace she complemented it with; it was the dramatic, floor-sweeping train that took the entire ensemble to the next level.

Model Hilary Rhoda also joined the party, choosing a look that landed somewhere between dressed down and glammed up with its casual navy blue sweater and glittering, sequined, and unabashedly sheer midi skirt from designer Jason Wu. Finishing off the dazzling look with a boxy clutch, embellished heels, and natural makeup, the brunette beauty made the skirt and sweater combo look just the right amount of formal for the event.

After seeing all the fabulous looks from Biel, Holmes, Bosworth, and Rhoda, it's hard to decide what looked better: the glam designs or the dazzling diamonds the stars styled them with.
