Ice Cube Reallllly Wanted An MTV Movie Award

by Lia Beck

When Ice Cube isn't staring in Coors Light commercials, it seems he's playing the kind of roles that deserve recognition. And I'm not talking just any old recognition, Ice Cube has his sights set on a particular honor and he's not letting logic or general human decency get in the way of expressing his wishes. Ice Cube says Paul Walker robbed him of the MTV Movie Award for Best Onscreen Duo and that Walker, who won the award along with Vin Diesel, was chosen because of "sympathy" votes.

Ice Cube was nominated with Kevin Hart for their roles in the comedy Ride Along. Cube told USA Today, "We was robbed. Shame on you MTV." It should be mentioned here that fans choose the winners for MTV Movie Awards. These are the votes Ice Cube referred to as "sympathy" votes. Cube continued, "We had the best chemistry of everybody nominated, for us not to win was crazy. We were the best onscreen duo, period." It's sounding a little Kanye up in here. Cube should have hired him to crash the stage.

Ice Cube then added, "They should have gave it to him before he passed away" before explaining that he left the award show soon after arriving. "I just wasn't into it. I have been going in and out of these things for 25 years. If you ain't into it, why torture yourself? As soon as you get bored, get up and leave." Well, that part actually sounds reasonable.

Since this story broke, Ice Cube has taken to Twitter to defend himself and explain that he wasn't actually mad which sounds totally unreasonable after hearing what he said.

Seriously, people! How could you gather madness or disrespect from quotes I gave that were published in context?

No qualms there and, as always, bonus points for capitalizing your capitalizing.

The award show wasn't until April and Walker died in November. He also won the same award with Diesel in 2002, but whatevs.

This one sounds snappy and cool, but, dude, you just told USA Today that you should have gotten the award with the amount of passion that would normally be reserved for an Oscar snub. Not to shit on the MTV Movie Awards, but they're the MTV Movie Awards. They far from cause to accuse people of sympathy votes and complain to a publication only to defend yourself on Twitter. Not only that, but if I'm going take these awards as seriously as Ice Cube apparently does, did Ice Cube and Kevin Hart really have the "best chemistry?" Walker and Diesel have starred in SIX Fast and Furious movies together. SIX!

Plus, you totally forgot to delete this tweet you wrote before the award show:
