What if the 'Magic Mike' Guys Were X-Men?

by Caroline Pate

With the new X-Men: Days of Future Past trailer having been released, it seems like everyone wants to join Charles Xavier's team...including Channing Tatum. That's right, the stripper-turned-actor wants to become one of the X-Men, and he has one in particular in mind: Gambit. Tatum told MTV at the MTV Movie Awards that the character was the mutant he always related to the most, coming from the South. Tatum also admired the character's status as sort of an anti-hero, saying "He’s a thief. He’s not even, like, a hero. He’s kind of walking the line of gray… He loves women and drinking and smoking and stuff, so he’s just a cool guy who happens to have a good moral center."

Although the character was portrayed by Taylor Kitsch in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the director of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Bryan Singer, alluded that the character might appear in some form or another in X-Men: Apocalypse, and Tatum's already been in talks with X-Men producers for the role. Adam (The Kid): Iceman

Iceman was the youngest member of the founding X-Men, just like Adam is the new kid on the block at Xquisite. And although Adam is an Omega-level mutant, he has yet to tap into his full potential...sound familiar? Honest and fearless, Iceman is often seen as immature, much like "The Kid."

Ken: Cyclops

An all-American leader who's usually in a committed relationship, Cyclops is the perfect role for Ken. Ken's eyes practically have mutant-level powers already, so it's not as if it would be much of a stretch.

Big Dick Richie: Wolverine

Gruff, powerful, doesn't play by the rules. We don't exactly know what's going on behind Wolverine's zipper, but if he ever decided to go into stripping, his routine would probably look a lot like Big Dick Richie's.

Dallas: Cannonball

Dallas would probably make a pretty good Gambit, too. But he'd also do well as the down-home boy Cannonball, a salt-of-the-earth Kentucky boy who's a natural leader. In addition to having the powers of jet propulsion while in flight, Cannonball also has unstoppability and superhuman endurance, both skills that Dallas would certainly want to lay claim to...
