'Neighbors' Promo Has Awesome 'Dawson's Shout Out

by Christine DiStasio

If you needed another reason to be excited for Neighbors to come out, you know, another reason besides having a crush on Seth Rogen and Zac Efron's amazing abs, there's now something new. Sure, we've already seen a handful of raunchy and hilarious trailers for the film with a healthy dose of Rogen-Efron scenes, but this new promo for Neighbors proves that Rogen and Efron are an epic comedic team that everyone wants a piece of. Even Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks.

I don't have to tell you that Rogen and Efron are hilarious together, but I will anyway. They're absolutely perfect. The new promo riffs on StateFarm's "Discount Doublecheck" commercials starring Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. Rogen and Efron meet Rodgers at the gym where Rogen embarrasses his Neighbors costar by not knowing who the Super Bowl winner is. (All he knows about him is that he's from the Statefarm commercials and asks if he's Eli Manning's brother.) Rodgers counters by running through a brief history of Rogen's recent films and a blast-from-the-past reference to a guest-starring role on Dawson's Creek in Season 6.

Efron and Rogen go back and forth throughout the promo where the younger star repeatedly asks Rogen to stop talking because he's embarrassing him. The promo ends when Rogen gets blasted in the head with an exercise ball (reminiscent of the film's trailers), while Efron and Rodgers sit smugly on the sidelines.
