Will This 'Orphan Black' Clone Die in Season 2?

by Alicia Lutes

This...this is not OK, you guys. No. No, no, no, no, no. I won't hear of it. But, ugh, you guys! The co-creators of everyone's favorite BBC America show, Orphan Black , don't have too many encouraging words in regards to the Internet's favorite iteration of Tatiana Maslany, Cosima Niehaus. In fact their recent interview has us convinced that — horror of all the horrors — our beloved science geek may meet her end in season 2. We already knew it was going to be a tough road for her this year considering how much worse her mysterious respiratory illness has gotten, but this? We were NOT expecting this, and we are far from OK with it!

Especially considering how blunt they were about it. When asked about what's to come for Cosima in the battle for her health, co-creator Graeme Manson stated, "Yeah, well don't get too attached to her." Don't get too attached to her? DON'T GET TOO ATTACHED TO HER?! TOO EFFING LATE, YOU GUYS.

Aaaaaaaarrrrreeeee yyyyyyoooouuuuuuu sseeeeerrrrriiiiioooouuuussss right now?! You say that — in that way — all cavalier and shit like it's no big deal that one of the main characters on your series might be gone with the wind come finale time?! NO, Graeme Manson, NO! He went on to say, "Obviously, I'm not going to spoil things at all, but it's part of the real stakes of season two is that Cosima has become ill, and with something ... the clones don't have the answers for it. So trying to cure Cosima's illness is a huge ticking clock." But still. Still!

This, of course, begs the question — if she has this disease does that mean all the clones could have it? Apparently so, explained the series other creator, John Fawcett, making matters worse. "That's the other aspect to all of this. Because they are all genetic identicals, they are all susceptible to this disease.

Of course, as Manson pointed out there are "many different genetic varying factors that may or may not affect them," in terms of actually contracting the disease, but it's still a concern all the same. BUT BACK TO COSIMA. How are we going to deal?! Why would they kill off the most beloved clone of all the clones (we're, personally, riding the Alison bandwagon at the moment but we love Cosima all the same)?!

Do Manson and Fawcett WANT THE INTERNET TO EXPLODE? We're dying, we're dying — and she might be dying! Oh no oh no oh no.
