What Prince William Said About His Newborn Son

by Kate Ward

We waited nine long months for the birth of the royal baby boy — who was born Monday at St. Mary's Hospital in London — and we're still waiting to find out his name, but it only took a few short hours for Prince William to issue official statement about his newborn son.

Shortly after Prince Charles spoke out about his new status as a grandfather — saying he was "proud and happy" about his new role — William released a much shorter statement. That said, it was no less precious. Said the new father about his first child with wife, Kate Middleton, "We could not be happier."

It's a thought echoed by any member of the media happy the baby waited until the weekday to be born, and royal baby enthusiasts — once they discover the baby's name, that is. But hang tight: Princess Diana didn't announce William's name until seven days after his birth in 1982. Which just means William and Middleton have plenty of time to avoid making the same mistake a certain couple made with America's royal baby.
