'Mean Girls' Karen Reviews Amanda Seyfried's Films

by Kristie Rohwedder

It's been a decade since we saw Karen Smith from Mean Girls get her weather girl start, and perhaps the fictional character is still delivering fictional forecasts to fictional audiences in some fictional city in a fictional universe. She truly has a gift, and it'd be a shame to let it go to waste. But what else has the fictional character been up to? She could be married. Maybe she has a family. Or she might be happily single. She could be out traveling the fictional world. Shoot, maybe she gave up the meteorology life altogether and pursued another career path. I really don't know.

What I do know (okay, I don't know this either. Please just play along): Karen has been watching movies. And yes, the fictional universe gets the same movies as our universe. (I'm pretty sure Neil deGrasse Tyson explains all of this in full detail on an episode Cosmos.) Some of those movies happen to include Amanda Seyfried. Seyfried portrayed Karen in Mean Girls. You still with me? Awesome.

Next question: Are you ready to get weird? AWESOME. Let's do this. Can't say I didn't warn you. Here's how Karen might react to some of Seyfried's post-Mean Girls movies:

Mamma Mia!

"Those songs sound familiar. Oh! Never mind. I had a piece of popcorn in my ear the entire time."

Jennifer’s Body

"That swimming pool is so ew."

Letters to Juliet

"Great. Now I want Letter Soup. You know, the soup with the letters."

Red Riding Hood

"I might've liked it better if I actually read the book. Wait. There is a book, right?"

In Time

"I totally relate to this movie. Having powers can be so crazy."

Les Miserables

"I thought it was funny because, like, they spoke English even though they were in France!"

Lovelace

"I am sad now, but I know how to fix it! Chalupas and Cinnamon Twists always make me feel better."

Hey, Karen? You're great at this. Movie reviews could very well be your calling...

...but predicting the current weather is and forever will be your destiny. Like I said, you truly have a gift.
