Latest 'Sin City' Trailer is Anything But Subtle

by Anna Klassen

Sexist undertones aside, the latest trailer for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For looks like a lot of fun, that is, if you're into over-the-top sequels that look exactly like their predecessors. The trailer looks oddly similar to the original 2005 flick, utilizing the same two-toned city scape and glossy editing. The veteran cast is back, along with some newbies. Jessica Alba is front and center, with her plethora of toned abdominal muscles and swinging hips in full force. Josh Brolin looks a bit like Frankenstein's Monster as he free-falls through the frames and swings his arms wildly.

Some new faces like Eva Green (who, ironically plays "Ava") will act as an additional victim of the male gaze. Ruining his indie street cred once and for all, Joseph Gordon Levitt will make an appearance as "Johnny" (listen for his hilarious scream around 30 seconds in). Bruce Willis is also billed for the film, along with Juno Temple and... Lady Gaga?!

I suppose Gaga's appearance isn't too surprising, as the film is as outlandish and stylized as most of her performances, nevertheless, this is one of Gaga's first feature film cameos. She appeared uncredited in Men in Black 3, and had a small part in Machete Kills, so we're excited to see how she looks in black and white for this film.

The film hits theatres August 22. Watch the latest trailer for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For below:
