A New Clip From Dan Rad's Rom-Com

by Lia Beck

Hopefully, the third time's the charm for Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan's new rom-com. The film, which is now on its third title, What If, was previously called both The F Word and If You're Lucky. If you thought you would have trouble remembering the title before, good luck now. If You're Lucky was criticized for being forgettable, but it's far more memorable than the nothingness that is What If. But perhaps the film can make it without having an amazing title. It was well received at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013 and received a distribution deal from CBS Films. A new clip of What If showing Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan in action along with costar Adam Driver was recently released and it looks promising.

The film's IMDb description reads,

Medical school dropout Wallace has been repeatedly burned by bad relationships. He meets Chantry, an animator who lives with her longtime boyfriend Ben, and they form an instant connection, striking up a close friendship. Still, there is no denying the chemistry between them, leading the pair to wonder, what if the love of your life is actually your best friend?

The new clip shows Wallace (Radcliffe) meeting Chantry (Kazan) for the first time when they are introduced by Wallace's roommate (Driver). Wallace is making embarrassing word poetry on the fridge which is worrisome at first:

Ugh. Is the movie really being that obvious?

But turns around when he finishes his poem:

What a relief!

The clip really gives off the feel of the movie and also reveals that, thankfully, Radcliffe is using his real accent. Dan Rad ain't too good at the American (technically, in this case it would be Canadian) accents. The film looks intriguing enough, so if you want to see it, it's probably a good idea to write down the title right now. Did you already forget? It's called WHAT IF.
