'Poltergeist' Remake Casts Rosemarie DeWitt: Who Else Should Be in the Remake?
United States of Tara actress Rosemarie Dewitt has been cast as the mother of the haunted family in the remake of the 1982 horror film Poltergeist. Production on the film is scheduled to start in the fall for a 2014 release date, but, so far, no other roles have been cast. Which means it's time for us to throwing in our own two cents about who would be the perfect actors to be attacked by trees and sucked into the television set in the remake.
Patrick Wilson as Steve Freeling
Craig T. Nelson of Parenthood played the part of the real-estate developer and father in the original, and, since Wilson has plenty of experience being chased down by ghosts from his work in the Insidious films and, most recently, The Conjuring, we think he'd be the perfect fit.
Ashley Rickards as Dana Freeling
Every horror movie today needs a surly teenage daughter, right? Ashley Rickards of Awkward fame could nail the part of the teen daughter in the film and give it her own modern-day twist.
CJ Adams as Robbie Freeling
The star of The Odd Life of Timothy Green proved that he had acting chops (and the ability to make us cry) so we think he could definitely hold his own playing the middle child in the remake of this horror classic. Just watch out for any haunted trees, CJ.
Suri Cruise as Carol Anne Freeling
Carol Anne is the youngest Freeling daughter who gets sucked into another portal by the poltergeist. Cruise is destined for an acting career at some point — and what could be scarier than celebrity spawn getting sucked even more into Hollywood?
