Paul Simon Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge

In a surprising turn of events, musician Paul Simon has been arrested on a domestic violence charge along with his wife, folk singer Edie Brickell. According to New Canaan, Conn. police, both Simon and Brickell were charged with disorderly conduct on Saturday night after what appeared to be a domestic dispute. The New Canaan Advertiser reports that a police call was placed around 8 p.m. on Saturday night, but there are currently no details on who placed the call or what exactly occurred.

Simon and Brickell have been married since 1992 and have lived in New Canaan for several years with their three children, Adrian, Lulu, and Gabriel.

The New Canaan police generally hold a press briefing on Monday afternoons, but said they would forgo the briefing and issue a news release. Reportedly, Simon and Brickell were scheduled to appear in the Norwalk Superior Court on Monday at 10 a.m.

Simon is, of course, known as a solo artist as well as for his time with Simon and Garfunkel. Brickell, on the other hand, is a musician herself and fronted the folk band Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians in the 1980s. The band's song, "What I Am" ranked as one of VH1's "100 Greatest One Hit Wonders." (Yes, that "What I Am.")
