Paul Feig's Latest Comedy is Coming

by Alanna Bennett

Bridesmaids director and former Mr. Pool Paul Feig is a busy, funny, creative, generally awesome dude. That's why we get super psyched whenever it's announced he's got a new project going: Chances are it's going to entertain us, and at this point it feels like there's about a 40 percent chance Melissa McCarthy will involved. We doubt McCarthy will have time for these most recently announced ventures, but our interest is piqued nonetheless: Paul Feig's got a new comedy series in the works with Yahoo. Yes, Yahoo.

Yahoo's working on a new lineup of 30-minute (relatively) long-form shows, and Feig is the man behind one of them. The show, called Other Space and not to be confused with 1999's Office Space, is described as "a galactic adventure in a universe far stranger and more dangerous than ours."

This all comes on the heels of Amazon's announcement of six shows. Here's the synopsis for Other Space :

A galactic adventure set in the early 22nd century, when the human race has mapped most of the known universe, failed to find alien life, and frankly gotten a little tired of the whole thing. A spaceship on a routine collection mission stumbles into the greatest discovery in history: an alternate universe, far stranger and way more dangerous than ours. Now the ship’s crew — a collection of over-matched rookies, feuding siblings, burned-out veterans and obsolete robots — has to explore this new universe to try and find a way back home alive. (8 half-hour episodes)

Sounds like what might happen if you put Firefly, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Bridesmaids in a salad spinner and shook it around. Legit.
