Once You Hear CHVRCHES, You'll Never Stop Dancing

by Laura Rosenfeld

Since you may have missed them running the festival circuit, we're here to inform you that Scottish electro-pop trio CHVRCHES worthy of your worship. The band is set to bring their fresh beats and lead singer Lauren Mayberry's angelic voice to The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon Thursday night as the musical guest. Whether they sing the slinky "Night Sky," the earworm-inducing "We Sink," or the song that was love at first listen, "The Mother We Share," CHVRCHES will have you saying "amen."

Last year was huge for CHVRCHES, which also includes Martin Doherty and Iain Cook as members. The group dropped its debut album The Bones Of What You Believe, which peaked at No. 3 on Billboard's Alternative Albums chart. The BBC named CHVRCHES one of the most promising new talents on its Sound of 2013 new music list. They took the stage at major festivals like SXSW and the Sasquatch! Music Festival and turned them into ragers. They even made their U.S. TV debut performing "The Mother We Share" on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Isn't it nice when things come full circle?

Mayberry is not only the coolest frontwoman we've seen in a while, with her gentle yet fierce vocals begging you to dance and sing along to every CHVRCHES song, but she also speaks up on women's issues. In October, Mayberry wrote an op-ed in The Guardian that denounced online misogyny. Is it possible for Mayberry to get any more awesome? We think not.

If you're still not convinced that CHVRCHES deserves some heavy rotation on your playlist, these essential tracks will definitely have you praying for more music from the trio.
