He Didn't Sleep With LiLo But...

by Kadeen Griffiths

Oh, James Franco. Haven't you ever heard the phrase "loose lips sink ships"? Of course, we should have all seen this coming. When Franco first denied that he had ever slept with Lindsay Lohan in the wake of her leaked sex list scandal, he was too busy plugging Directing Herbert White to get into too much detail. That could have and should have been the end of it. However, when the sex list came up again on Howard Stern Wednesday morning, Franco admitted to having kissed Lindsay Lohan before and painted an entirely different picture of her than in his last interview on the subject.

The kiss allegedly went down in 2004 while Franco was in New York filming Spider-Man 2. Considering that LiLo was seventeen going on eighteen in 2004, does it make it any less creepy that the legal age of consent in New York is, in fact, seventeen? In light of Franco's scandal with the 17-year-old he tried to pick up on Instagram, that's probably a no. More disturbing than even that is what a complete 180 Franco is doing in his opinion of Lohan, who has already admitted to finding the leak humiliating.

PAST: "Oh, gosh. Poor Lindsay. I haven't talked to her in a while...We were friends."PRESENT: "All right, we maybe kissed… it was lame. I can’t believe she put me on that private list, she’s so delusional!"

PAST: "I mean, I don't want to brag about [turning her down for sex]. I don't know how that got out."PRESENT: "[I said to myself] ‘Okay, the kiss is enough.’ It was also like, ‘What the hell am I doing?’ She was young."

PAST: "She was having issues even then, so you feel weird. Honestly, she was a friend. I've met a lot of people that are troubled and sometimes you don't want to do that."PRESENT: "She even broke into my room one time [in 2007]. I was on the couch and opened my eyes and there’s Lindsay in my room at 3 am."

What could have caused such a change in how Franco chose to handle the situation? Was he getting tired of having to answer this question and wanted to be as thorough as possible in the hopes of avoiding more in the future? Had he just watched Mean Girls in honor of its ten year anniversary and had Regina George's voice whispering in his ear about how "socially retarded" Lindsay Lohan is? Is James Franco just not the type of guy who has ever believed in kissing and not telling?

No matter what his reasons are, the whole thing seems incredibly disrespectful to Lohan. According to Franco, the two of them were friends. Lohan's sex list was meant to stay private and was part of her recovery. Franco might have been upset about it before Lohan outright admitted to writing it, but throwing her under the bus for what he said happened during a dark and troubled period in her life isn't what friends do.
