Halle Berry's 'Extant' Looks Hella Creepy

by Alanna Bennett

Halle Berry is back, but this time, she's pregnant with an alien baby. At least that's the plot of CBS thriller Extant , in which Berry stars. As a woman pregnant with an alien baby. Really important that you get that part. In its write-up Entertainment Weekly asked "Could Extant be like a sci-fi Rosemary’s Baby?" And the trailer certainly seems to point to a "yes" on that front, meaning both Berry and Zoe Saldana will likely be carrying troublesome spawn this summer on national television.

Extant 's produced by Steven Spielgberg and marks a relatively rare foray into television for Berry. And the two plot synopses for the film on IMDb certainly spell out intrigue. The first's relatively benign:

An astronaut (Berry) returns home from a year long solo mission in space. She tries to reconnect with her husband and son in their everyday life. Her experiences in space and home lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history.

But the second points to something a lot more cryptic (possible spoilers?):

After spending a year in space, where she lived and conducted strange experiments, astronaut Molly Watts (Halle Berry) tries to resume a normal life with her family consisting of her husband, John, a gifted scientist, and Ethan, their son, a boy like no the other. He is not their biological son as Molly is infertile. Ethan was designed by his father as the first prototype of a future line of "Humanichs", "human robots". But the return of Molly will have dramatic consequences for the entire planet and the fate of mankind

Humanichs? Her son is a robot? Sounds like this family had problems even before the unintended alien baby.

You can watch the trailer below if you wanna get a head start on being creeped out by this thing.
