Edie Brickell & Paul Simon Release A Love Song

by Kaitlin Reilly

Well, I guess Paul Simon and Edie Brickell really did bury the hatchet. The songwriting couple was arrested in their New Canaan, Conn. home for disorderly conduct last week after the the couple allegedly got into a heated argument. Though the officers on the scene found that both Brickell and Simon had "minor injuries," it appears that Brickell and Simon are referring to this case as just a "rare fight" between spouses. The two showed up to their court date holding hands and both insisted that neither felt threatened by the other. What really solidified how good they were feeling in their relationship? To show their solidarity, Brickell and Simon released a new duet, titled "Like To Get To Know You."

The song is about a couple who loses touch with one another, but "wouldn't trade places with anyone," and wants to learn more about their partner, despite the distance between them.

It's so very fitting that this is the way that Brickell and Simon are dealing with their domestic issues, and it's great that they both have made up and are getting along better than ever.

Listen to the song — think it's autobiographical? Either way, we're just happy that Brickell and Simon have put their troubles behind them. In fact, Brickell told Rolling Stone exactly how it went down: "I got my feelings hurt and I picked a fight with my husband. The police called it disorderly. Thank God it’s orderly now." True!
