This Reality Show Star Is Filing For Divorce

by Emma Goddard

As I'm sure any other avid viewers of Teen Mom 2 would say in response to this news: hallelujah. Apparently, Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans is filing for divorce from her husband, Courtland Rogers. I’m not going to praise Evans just yet or give her an award for being an amazing mother, but this is a major step in the right direction.

Actually, this is a huge step. It’s basically a leap considering Evans and Rogers have had their fair share of marital issues in the past, which isn’t exactly anything new from the couples we’ve seen on the show sadly. After filing for four counts of assault on a female and two counts of battery of an unborn child against her soon-to-be ex-husband in 2013, this is most definitely the best decision she has ever made. Although I would be upset that this didn't happen sooner, couples must be separated for at least a year before having the ability to file for divorce, according to North Carolina state law.

However, let’s also note that Evans began dating Nathan Griffith while she was still married, because that seems like the appropriate thing to do. New boyfriend and then a divorce? Everything seems backwards here.

For the sake of Evans’ children, though, I am glad that this long overdue divorce is happening. After all, you really have to cut off any loose ends in your life… like people who cause physical harm to you and your kids. Hopefully the reality show celebrity will be able to get her life together once she no longer has this bad energy in her life. Or she will just continue to wreak havoc on the world. It's truly a toss-up.
