Her View on Woody Allen's Scandal Is Surprising

by Emma Goddard

Earlier this year, when the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, Dylan Farrow accused Woody Allen of allegedly sexually abusing her when she was a child, many were quick to take sides. However, there were also those celebrities who were quite mum about the scandal when their names were listed in Farrow’s open letter, for the purpose of addressing how much it upset her that many continued to work with Allen despite her allegations. Like Diane Keaton — Allen mentioned her directly in the letter. Despite this, though, Diane Keaton recently told The Guardian that she believes Woody Allen over Farrow's accusations, while promoting her new memoir, Let’s Just Say It Wasn’t Pretty.

Heads will roll. Keaton, who has previously expressed her devout faithfulness to her "friend," Allen, before in a statement to Us Weekly, is really not helping herself by supporting him once again.

I saw [Dylan] maybe three times. I didn’t know her. It’s not a bad accusation. I was never friends with Mia — I was friendly. Sort of like I’m friendly with you. I like you, I like the way you are. I like the way she is, too. She’s very charming. But I never knew her as a friend. A friend — that’s a commitment. It’s as close as you can get to family, and sometimes it’s even closer. Friendship requires a lot of time.

Not that this wasn’t bad enough already, but when pushed for a more precise response about whether or not Keaton believed Allen had sexually abused Farrow, the celebrity said, “I have nothing to say about that. Except: I believe my friend.”

Aaaaaand...yikes.
