At The 2014 Met Gala, Beyonce, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron and More Ruled The Red Carped With These Accessories

Once again, the Costume Institute Gala — also known as the Met Gala — has come and gone, taking with it some pretty amazing, definitely eye-catching, and sadly off-the-mark looks that will forever go down in the history of the event’s annual red carpet. And while the glamorous gowns and elegant ensembles seen on everyone from Sarah Jessica Parker and Beyonce to Blake Lively and the Olsen twins have gotten their fair share of attention, there’s one thing that deserves its time in the spotlight, too: the night’s best accessories. So, without further ado, here are 11 of the best jewels, headpieces, shoes, and more from the 2014 Met Gala red carpet.

Sarah Jessica Parker's Headpiece

Ever the fashionista, the Sex and the City star leaves no stone unturned when it comes to add-ons and accessories for the annual Met Gala. This year was no exception, as she paired her extravagant Oscar de la Renta gown with not only bejeweled white gloves, but also one extreme flower-adorned headpiece that even Carrie Bradshaw would give a nod of approval.

Beyonce's Veil and Earrings

As if there was ever any doubt, Queen Bey reigned supreme once again at this year’s Met Gala, thanks in part to her uber-chic, barely there veil and oversized Lorraine Schwartz sparklers.

Lily Aldridge's Necklace

The Victoria’s Secret model was one of the evening’s best dressed, pairing her liquid silver Michael Kors number with this killer, diamond-encrusted Stephen Russell choker necklace. Oh, and those brows? They weren’t too bad of an accessory either.

Kim Kardashian's Earrings

Anything would have been better than last year’s monstrosity of a Givenchy gown, but the future (or possibly current?) Mrs. West looked refreshingly classy in her blue Lanvin gown and stunning Lorraine Schwartz diamond drop earrings.

Marion Cotillard's Shoes

Many of the evening’s red carpet footwear choices were a bit safe (at times even outright boring), but the Parisian actress didn’t hesitate to amp up her shoe game with these adorably quirky, heeled loafers from Dior Couture.

Charlize Theron's Earrings

Theron was the picture of elegance in her black-and-white Dior ensemble, but the actress gave the outfit some much-needed edge with these fabulous silver, dangling ear cuffs from Fred Leighton.

Lupita Nyong'o's Bracelets

Think what you will about Nyongo’s’ interesting and statement-making Prada gown at her debut Met Gala, but the Oscar winner’s piled-on Cartier bracelets were a sophisticated complement to her beaded fishnet ensemble.

Olivia Munn's Hairpin

It’s hard to focus on anything but the gorgeous dandelion yellow DVF dress Munn wore on the red carpet — unless it’s that angel-wing hairpin from Fred Leighton, that is.

Selena Gomez's Earrings

Gomez looked beyond sophisticated in her burgundy, fits-like-a-glove gown from Diane von Furstenberg, but her layered spike Lorraine Schwartz earrings helped give the ensemble just the jolt of youth and edge it needed.

Rita Ora's Lace-Up Heels

We can always count on Ora to make a fashion statement on the red carpet, and she certainly didn’t disappoint with her thigh-high, satin lace-up heels. Bonus points for the matching armband.

Kate Upton's Necklace

Her questionable headpiece and Dolce & Gabbana gown aside, the supermodel does get some fashion credit for choosing that unbelievable peach and teal, gem-encrusted statement necklace (and earrings, too!).
