You Already Know Sophie Turner's Newest Pet

by Kaitlin Reilly

I like Game of Thrones fine, but sometimes that show is downright depressing. No, I'm not talking about Joffrey's recent death (I totally don't want that guy to rest in peace), I'm talking about actually sad things, like that time when Ned Stark had to kill his daughter Sansa's pet dire wolf back in Season 1. Clearly, this was the most traumatic thing to ever happen on Game of Thrones, but don't worry — this story has a happy ending. The actress who plays the perpetually-sad Sansa, Sophie Turner, did the greatest thing ever in wake of her character's pet's death. Sophie adopted the dog who played Sansa's dire wolf, which might make this the only dead pet story with a happy ending.

Here's what she had to say about the adoption:

Growing up I always wanted a dog, but my parents never wanted one... We kind of fell in love with my character's dire wolf, Lady, on set... we knew that Lady died and they wanted to re-home her. My mom persuaded [the Game of Thrones crew] to let us adopt her.

Though Sophie adopted her dog back in August, the news is just popping up again due to the Reddit thread. It seems that "Zunni," Sophie's former co-star and new pet, is fitting in very well with her family. While we never want Game of Thrones to kill off an animal, it would be kind of adorable if every cast member got to adopt their very own dire wolf, don't you think?
