Andi's Bound For a Breakdown on 'The Bachelorette'

by Nicole Pomarico

The moment we've all been waiting for is finally here, guys! Andi Dorfman's season of The Bachelorette has officially kicked off. The awkward limo introductions are over, the First Impression Rose has been handed out (go, Nick V!), and the castoffs have officially exited the building. Next up? Making predictions about how this season will go down while attempting to sideswipe any and all spoilers that might be popping up left and right. Let's play fair, guys! And according to ABC's promo for the big events of this season, poor Andi is headed for what looks like a major emotional breakdown. Why do I already have a feeling that when Andi cries, I'm going to cry with her?

At some point this season, Andi ends up in front of all the guys in tears, freaking out about something that's happened — something unbeknownst to us at this point. At one point, she's so upset she even strips off her mic because she needs some alone time, away from the cameras. And could anyone blame her? She's looking for love on national television. She'd be hard pressed to find a more high pressure situation... you know, other than busting gangs in the courtroom back home, of course.

So what has Andi so upset? Knowing The Bachelorette, it could be anything, but here are a few guesses:

She's sick of her potential lovers fighting.

The promo shows a troubling amount of the guys arguing with each other — and their jealous streaks start to show. "Wait, I have to hang out with these guys while they're all flirting with my girl?" they all seem to slowly realize at the same time. "Hey, this isn't as much fun as I thought it would be." While this will obviously make excellent television, I can't imagine it's too much fun for Andi. Could their bickering bring her to tears?

Dudes of The Bachelorette: Welcome to what it's like being a girl in middle school. And in high school. And, okay, college, and even your 20s.

Someone told her "It's okay."

Sorry. I couldn't help myself. We all know how much she hates that.

Andi's bachelors aren't taking the show seriously.

From the promo, we know this is actually something that happens, although it's unclear if it's the larger problem at hand. "The fact that people think that this is a joke is so offensive to me," Andi says. "If you don't think this is real, then the door is right there, because this is so real to me."

And in more than one clip, the guys are sitting around looking pretty guilty about something. That in itself is a pretty big clue that they've screwed up. Guys, what the hell did you do?

The pressure of reality TV has finally gotten to her.

More than once during the breakdown scenes, Andi mentions how exhausted she is, and can I blame her? No. She's on dates with guys she barely knows, breaking hearts left and right, and 99 percent of the time, there's a camera in her face. While this is probably a blast for, you know, the first week or two, I'd imagine eventually, it gets pretty old. Anyone would crack under the pressure sooner or later.

She isn't clicking with any of the guys on the show the way she hoped she would.

"It's a fairytale for a reason," Andi says tearfully. "It doesn't happen." But I'm rooting for Andi. Don't give up hope now — you're way too amazing to escape this show with anything but true love.
