Watch Woody's 'Magic In The Moonlight' Trailer

by Mallory Schlossberg

You might not be entirely interested in what Woody Allen produces next considering this winter's scandal, but remember, he is an auteur who has made some pretty classic movies. Last year's Blue Jasmine was, without a doubt, stellar, and brought out an Oscar win for Cate Blanchett. And if you like Emma Stone, you've got another shot at watching the mega-talented actress in her element, so it's definitely worth it to check out the trailer for Woody Allen's Magic In The Moonlight. The movie, which takes place in the south of France in 1920s (ooh, period clothing!) follows Stanley (Colin Firth), who is an Englishman who pretends to be an Asian magician. This magician character he puts on is one who tries to expose fake clairvoyants. He goes to the south of France to reveal that a medium, Sophie (Emma Stone) is a fraud, but instead, he falls for her.

You can't deny that watching Colin Firth and Emma Stone spout quippy dialogue by Allen could be pretty excellent, and it will definitely be pretty fun to watch Stone portray a psychic. And there's always the possibility that Stone could follow in Blanchett's footsteps and, if her performance is critically hailed, maybe receive an Oscar nod...Of course, it may be tough to watch any flick by Allen without a bit of a sour taste in our mouths, but we've got to focus on Stone and Firth, here.

Check out the trailer for the movie, which hits theater on July 25, below:
