It's officially Memorial Day Weekend, and with all of the chic excursions you undoubtedly have planned through Monday, the weather will be a key factor in determining if you're clutching your umbrella or basking in the sunshine with your hat and shades. I imagine that your idea of barbecue attire doesn't include galoshes and a slicker, but just in case the weather threatens to change your plans, you can be fashionably prepared. May can still be mercurial weather-wise, so keeping an extra scarf and an umbrella on hand is in your best interest, but think breezy layers in terms of your ensemble to ensure you stay comfortable no matter what the temperature. Leave your buttoned-up office wear for weekdays, and try more relaxed pieces for the weekend: bohemian dresses, slouchy silk pants, and lightweight, patterned shorts are all fair game for an off-duty look, and a long weekend is ideal for taking advantage of less rigid sartorial restrictions.
