These Pics Will Make You Want to (E-)Read Now

With summer finally here and lots of epic travel and relaxation plans on the horizon, it’s time to pull out those handsome e-readers. Even traditional paper book sticklers (like myself, I admit) can't deny the benefits of digital reading devices when it comes to being on the go. It’s much easier to bring along a slim electronic reader than to lug around a hefty stack of books in your carry-on, travel tote, or beach bag — and that's not even mentioning your suitcase for that lengthy, much-needed vacation. Major space-saver.

That’s why it comes as no surprise that in 2013, 40 percent of adults owned e-readers or tablets, according to USA Today. These stats also showed that almost half of individuals in the 18-to-39 age range owned devices. Equally unsurprising was that digital reading devices were even more popular among college graduates: 60 percent of college degree-holders owned one. And those using e-readers deserve even more props because, according to the poll, 35 percent of 'em owners claimed they were reading more books since they’d acquired their digital friends. It's clear that e-reading continues to be on the rise, a trend further evidenced in a January 2014 study conducted by the Princeton Survey Research Associates.

With so many digital readers out there, it’s about time we showed ‘em some love. So, for all you e-reader groupies who've been feeling a bit neglected or left out in my recent book porn post, this lovely image collection is for you — and for the print copy romantics among us, maybe these will remind you that e-books aren't the enemy.
