Miley Tones Things Down At The World Music Awards

Miley Cyrus isn't exactly known for her more low-key moments. Whether she's 75% naked on stage, doing questionable things with a giant foam finger, or simply grinding on a married man in front of the entire universe, Cyrus is usually being talked about in one way or another. But this time, it looks like the Bangerz singer is making headlines for actually toning things down for once (yes, I was surprised too). To perform at the World Music Awards Tuesday night, Cyrus wore a Giambattista Valli gown that was classic, relatively simple, and completely gorgeous.

It's true that Cyrus has worn simpler gowns in the past (remember this Marc Jacobs moment?), but this is one of the first times in recent memory that she's gone for a straight-forward, just plain pretty look. The gown is floral, strapless, floor-length, and feminine in every sense of the word.

Juxtaposed with her bleach blonde pixie cut and multiple tattoos, the look works really well — a lovely mix of hard and soft. A classic look with a modern twist. And as surprising as it is, yes, she looks good with clothes on too (real clothes meaning an actual gown and not a skin-tight, flesh-toned one piece).

While she's never out of the headlines for too long, the "Wrecking Ball" singer has been on the quieter side of the news for a little while. Her dearly loved dog, Floyd, passed away a couple months ago and Cyrus has had a pretty tough time dealing with it in the time since, just recently posting a very long, heartfelt letter about the pain of losing her pet.

It's safe to say that even with Cyrus' more subdued nature for the past few months, the same old "almost completely nude, grabbing crotch, sticking tongue out" gal we all know and love will be back sooner rather than later. And even though she's not everyone's cup of tea, Cyrus manages to look confident in whatever she's wearing — and that's a pretty cool thing in my book.
