Sad News for Arsenio Hall & Fans

by Kenya Foy

For anyone who satisfied their nostalgia for late night fist pumps and "woofs" by watching Arsenio Hall's new talk show, it pains me to dash your hopes, but The Arsenio Hall Show has been canceled. News of the talk show's cancellation might make the folks over at CBS seem like a bunch of cruel tricksters because in February they enlisted the help of Jay Leno who made a surprise appearance on the show to announce that it would be back for a second season. But according to a statement released by the network, they had every intention of bringing the show back but obviously, the situation did not go as planned:

Unfortunately, ‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ will not return for a second season; while there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue. Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we’d like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We’d also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show.

Reportedly, production has already stopped and only reruns have aired since the show's last original segment on May 21. No word on what Hall's next entertainment venture will be, but it would make sense for him to consider giving reality TV another shot. Winning Celebrity Apprentice definitely put him back on the radar and allowed him to relaunch the talk show, so who knows how else it could work in his favor in the future.Perhaps Hall will even consider his taking comedic talents back to the big screen. After all, his Apprentice appearance showed us a side of him that we haven't seen publicly and displayed his versatility. It was evident in the tears that replaced his normal mega-watt smile and goofy demeanor as he displayed passion over representing his charity of choice. Also, he was quite aggressive when he went head-to-head with Aubrey O' Day.

Despite the talk show's short run, Hall still managed to accomplish something pretty impressive by simply reviving a talk show from two decades ago. That's an effort worth applauding and with Hall's talent, surely he'll give us plenty more reasons to continue cheering him on.
