If you had given birth to your first child just a month before your wedding, would you strap that child to the train of your wedding dress and drag him or her down the aisle with you? Because apparently people do that sometimes. Or at least, Shona Carter-Brooks did when she married Johnathon Brooks in Tennessee. As The Frisky said, “Well, this is one way to wear Vera Wang.”
The Brooks family shot to Internet fame over the weekend when photos from the wedding emerged, presumably due to the fact that Shona Carter-Brooks had left her Facebook privacy settings… um… not so private. In the pictures, Shona and Johnathon’s daughter, Aubrey, who was about a month old at the time, appears to have been strapped onto the train of her mother’s wedding dress so that she could witness her parents saying their “I dos” up close and personal. Naturally, there’s been a huge outcry about the whole thing, with a whole lot of Internet commenters saying that, really, someone should contact CPS, because who does that. Shona took to Facebook to respond, shutting down the naysayers with a forceful, “The answer is we do what we want when we want” and noting “our one month old was awake and well secured on my train.” I’m not really sure that made anyone feel any better about the whole thing, but there you have it.

There’s some dispute, by the way, about when the wedding actually occurred; the Daily Mail and Clutch, which, as far as I can tell, were the first two sites to write about it, claim that it occurred just last month, although Carter-Brooks’ Facebook page lists their anniversary as May 12, 2013 — last year. Either way, I will make the following observation: Say what you want about Kimye’s wedding; at least they left little North safely in grandma Kris Jenner’s arms during the ceremony.
For the curious, the dress is believed to have been a White by Vera Wang gown purchased at David’s Bridal; I can’t seem to find the dress on the David’s Bridal website, though, so if it is, in fact, a Vera Wang, the wedding having occurred a year ago could explain its absence. UPDATE: We've received confirmation that the dress was not Vera Wang — just FYI. Would it be in bad taste to make a “something new” joke in reference to Baby Aubrey? Yes? Well, then, let’s pretend I didn’t just make one.
