If fans know anything about Bill and Giuliana Rancic, it's that they can get through anything together. Unfortunately, the couple has faced many hardships in the past few years and on Sunday, they shared some very sad news. The Rancics' surrogate suffered a miscarriage after about nine weeks of pregnancy. Bill and Giuliana were trying to have a second child to join their 21-month-old son Duke.
The current season of their E! reality series Giuliana & Bill chronicled their attempts at having their second child through their surrogate Delphine, the same woman who carried Duke. Tuesday's season finale will reveal whether or not a pregnancy attempt was successful, however this recent news shows that regardless of what happened when the finale was filmed, at some point Delphine did become pregnant before having a miscarriage.
Bill told People that he and Giuliana were devastated to hear the news and upset not only about their own loss, but concerned about how Delphine would handle it as well. However Bill also said that the couple remains hopeful about the future of their family.
We're fighters. Hopefully we're going to have good news and Delphine will be on board one more time. We've had to battle it out and that's something that we're going to continue to do.
Before successfully having Duke via surrogate, Giuliana suffered a miscarriage of her own and was diagnosed with breast cancer in October of 2011. Following a double mastectomy, Giuliana is now cancer-free. So when Bill says he and his wife are "fighters," he's got the experience to prove it.
It's heartbreaking to see Giuliana and Bill go through another difficult time, but if their past has taught fans anything, it's that there's nothing they can't overcome.
