Tom Ford is pretty much the best of the best when it comes to men's fashion. He's known for his suits (is there a Jay-Z song playing in your head?), his work at Gucci and YSL, and for just being an all-around perfectionist. Ford's newest endeavor? Fatherhood.
Since his son, Jack, entered his life in 2012, Ford says his mindset on certain things has changed completely. And since truly realizing the importance of having a child in his life, Ford told Vogue UK that he's "decided to age." You know, like the rest of us mere mortals.
"It has become the most important thing in my life. Everything else has had to recede, including my appearance. I don't care about it. I care about being successful. I just don't care about any of it as much. You can't… I've decided to age."
Ford, who recently married his long-time partner Richard Buckley, said that since having their son, he simply hasn't had time for "Botox or fillers." The struggle of fatherhood is seriously real.
"Since we've had Jack I haven't had a Botox injection or a filler. I haven't had time… It has really changed me; I'm not sure how to articulate it. A lot of things I cared about before I don't care as much about anymore."
And while it seems a little odd that Ford talks about his big change in a way that has more to do with appearance than, I don't know, the fact that he's now raising a tiny human being, this is the fashion world, guys. And this is kind of a big deal when it's Tom Ford we're talking about. And what Ford is saying, really, is important. There are bigger things in life than Botox and perfection.
No, it certainly shouldn't take having a child to realize that, but in a fashion industry full of Photoshop and a general no tolerance policy for flaws, it's understandable that Tom Ford (of all people) may have been a little caught up in the superficialness of it all.
And if you're wondering if Ford's son is ruining his fashionable father's home decor, the answer is apparently no. Because, according to Ford, Jack's just "not like that." Oh. Ok.
Superhuman father, superhuman child? Makes sense, honestly.
