Miley's Got a New Song — Sort Of

by Kadeen Griffiths

It hasn't even been a year since Miley Cyrus' album Bangerz came out and it's already become something of a cultural fixture. More accurately, Bangerz marked the departure of the present Miley Cyrus from the Miley Cyrus of old, featuring music that Cyrus is now well-known for but would never have been associated with before her infamous VMAs appearance with Robin Thicke. If there's any perfect example for how quickly our society can change, it's Miley Cyrus' overnight overhaul of her career. There is now an unreleased track from the Bangerz album floating around the Internet and you'll be banging your head along with it all right. The unreleased Bangerz track is called "Pretty Girls (Fun)" and there's a good reason it didn't make it to the final cut.

Oh, it's not a bad song if you like the direction Cyrus' career has gone in. Lyrics like "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the flyest of them all" are pretty much to be expected from her these days and are far from the most cringe-worthy rhymes she's ever made. The beat of the song is also perfect for twerking, another thing that Cyrus is well known for these days. As soon as it starts, you're already transported to a club scene with your girl friends to have fun like all pretty girls want to do, according to Cyrus. And, well, according to life.

However, as quickly as the song was leaked on the Internet, there was already a remixed version of it — a version that, to be honest, is a lot more catchy and memorable than the original. "Pretty Girls (Fun)" sounds like anything else off Cyrus' Bangerz album, which is probably why it got cut, but the remix is a fan made cover of the song mashed up with E-40's "Chitty Bang" that saves "Pretty Girls (Fun)" from its own genericness.

Both versions are only two minutes and 30 seconds long, but the remix makes it clear that if Cyrus ever does decide to finish this track then it would work much, much better as a collaboration. It's just something to keep in mind for her next album, Bangerz II: Turn Down For WHAT?

Check out the remix below.
