Wait, WHY Did Lara Stone Lose A Modeling Job?

Apparently even models are susceptible to those uncomfortable changes that many women experience when they're pregnant. And that includes changes in how they're viewed professionally. Lara Stone recently revealed to Porter that she lost a huge modeling gig once it was discovered that she was pregnant. Ouch.

According to Stone, she told the people who had booked her of her pregnancy once she found out, but when she showed up on set for the shoot, she had lost the job.

Stone, who was pregnant at the time with her first child with husband David Walliams (she gave birth in May 2013), was not happy with her former-employer's choice of cutting her job. And given that she was barely even three months pregnant at the time, can you really blame her?

“I was really upset at the time,” Stone said. “I hadn’t yet had my three-month scan and I felt really vulnerable about everything. I no longer had a job. That was it — I had to just stop everything that I knew; the way my life was.”

It's been a while since the incident and since Stone has given birth, but the effects of her pregnancy have still been a lingering nuisance for the model, who works in an industry that isn't exactly forgiving of women's bodies — even post-baby bodies.

"There is so much pressure these days to look fantastic during pregnancy and to lose the weight within days of leaving [the] hospital. I have nothing against those who do, but it's not normal. Your body changes hugely during pregnancy and it takes time to go back."

Preach, Lara. Preach.

While it's understandable that pregnancy (a condition that changes your appearance) will always have some effect on models' professional lives (a profession that is entirely based on appearance), I think we can all agree that Stone losing her job is just a little ridiculous in this case.

Not only was her pregnancy probably not even noticeable at that stage, but it's not like every single fashion spread and ad we see isn't Photoshopped to begin with, so why couldn't they just take out whatever itsy bitsy baby bump she may have had, right?

I don't quite understand, but despite whatever insecurities the model's pregnancy may have created, it seems like Stone is doing (and looking) just fine, according to her Instagram.

Work it, girl. Also, if I look like this a year after giving birth, I fully expect some sort of parade / celebratory photo shoot in my honor. Just saying.
