Tracy Morgan Responsive After Undergoing Surgery

by Kenya Foy

In the latest update on the condition of Tracy Morgan, we've learned more about the status of the 30 Rock actor and more details about what happened when a Wal-mart truck driver rear-ended Morgan's tour bus, injuring him and six others, and killing comedy writer James McNair.

According to TMZ, Morgan has been more responsive today despite having sustained multiple serious injuries. A statement Morgan's reps provided to US Weekly specifies Morgan's injuries and addresses his current condition:

"While Tracy remains in critical condition, he has been more responsive today, which is an incredibly encouraging sign," Morgan's rep told Us. "He sustained a number of injuries including a broken leg, a broken femur, a broken nose and several broken ribs. He had surgery earlier today on his leg. We expect him to remain in the hospital for several weeks. His family is tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans."

Little by little, details have emerged giving us more clarity about exactly what led up to the accident. Police believe the driver of the truck that struck Morgan's limo and an SUV dozed off and didn't become aware of slowing traffic in enough time to prevent the multi-car accident. Earlier today an eye witness offered a chilling firsthand account of what happened on the scene of the crash.

With fans and colleagues waiting to hear something that gives a little more insight into how Morgan is faring, hearing that he is somewhat alert and successfully made it through a surgery appears to be the most promising news on his status since the accident occurred. Hopefully it offers a glimmer of hope to friends, family and fans who are undoubtedly wishing Morgan, as well as the other injured victims, a speedy recovery.
